Upon the shores of distant dreams,
She lies.

Where once there were men with hearts of gold,
Now there are skeletons with hearts of dirt,
Lying upon the last remnants of her deck.

The sea is calm now,
The moon shines on her.

She is no more than torn wood splinters,
In the shape of a vessel.

She was a brave and glorious ship,
That sailed upon the seas of trial and tribulation.

So much promise, she showed.

But now all that is left is the gentle lapping of the waves.
The blood is gone, and so are the screams.

Hope was replaced by death.

Death tonight is replaced by the gentle lapping of tears.
All is calm,
And the moon shines on,
Gazing mournfully at man's ambition and pride.

It will never die.

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without color,
Paralyzed force, gesture without motion;

--T.S. Eliot

This is beyond death, when all is quiet,

"But now all that is left is the gentle lapping of the waves.
The blood is gone, and so are the screams."

When no more screams and all is silent.

This will be our undoing our ambishion and pride.

"Gazing mournfully at man's ambition and pride"

And so one more page turns.

Love this one.

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

There are some really great images here...

Hope was replaced by death.

Death tonight is replaced by the gentle lapping of tears.
All is calm,
And the moon shines on,
Gazing mournfully at man's ambition and pride.

It will never die.

wow... the last section is so haunting. I really enjoyed the whole poem but that last section was quite intense. Much enjoyed, a great poem.
