No escape from these feelings that plague me night and day,
No exit from my realities,
Even in my dreams they'll stay,
To haunt me forever and a day.

There is no flight from these emotions,
These feelings of uselessness,
I suffer them in silence,
Live under a cloud of duress.

I go to sleep with love in my heart and soul,
And try as I might the nightmares still trap me,
They remind me I'm not in control,
Regret is one of the powers that be.

No outpouring of grief,
Mine is a constant misery,
It never leaves I merely disguise it,
So no one else can see.

I've meditated, chanted, tried so many things,
But again the pain rears it's ugly head,
It derives joy from the torture it brings,
Perhaps these thoughts too should go unsaid.

When will it change?
When will it be my turn in the sun?
When will I 'feel' the birdsong again?
Not merely hear it?  Hearing isn't enough fun..

I thought it had changed,
My life and it's path,
Thought I was following my destiny,
That of a caring empath.

But the carer is now in need of care,
I too need love and understanding,
To know I really matter,
To know my life is not a mistake withstanding...

There is no intermission for me,
Seems this is the scarlet letter I wear,
Seems this is part of my lot in life,
Under the laughter and caring, there is heaps of pain in there...........

Hey, wow! I know that feeling well. The feeling that you are totally insignificant, that nobody could be bothered to notice you unless they need you.

Nonetheless, I believe it's better to be a person who cares about others, even if it causes pain. I'm sure that in the end you get much more out of life that way, though it's so sad that so few of us do this. I can see that you think about others, feel for them and want to help them if you can, and that's a wonderful way for a person to be. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be any other way!

Well, being in a profession which demands that I care for others on a moment's notice, I can relate to this well.  Where is YOUR ear when you need one to bend?  Who cares for the giver when in need!?  I like this one indeed!  Or maybe I'm just posting too much?  Just nice to see I can relate!
