~The Morning~

Grasping for the sanctity of the darkness,
Which was provided by the absence of light.
How I yearn to reacquire my sleeping state
And assume my position of a dreamful night.

But night is no longer. Through the curtains
Of my eyes the sunlight streams.
I fight to remain within my world of reason;
I try to recall the memories of faded dreams.

Lying there in stillness, trying again to drift away
But to no avail I must face this new day and not flee.
As I become reacquainted with my surroundings
I notice you lying there, peacefully next to me.

As I thoughtfully watch you in slumber’s safety
I cannot but hope that such safety and peace of mind
Can be given to you by me. That within as much as
A single kiss, my security and love you’ll find.

Then I begin to understand in my waking hour
All that love is and what love can do.
I know now that my world of reason
And my dreams lie in the sanctity of you.

Now I only want to celebrate the dawn,
Not wanting to hide in the darkness of night.
Every morning is now an open door to you
Through which my heart will repeatedly take it’s flight.

This is beautiful Minstrel.  Love can renew faded colors to bright and turn a so-so life into an epic journey.
