Darkness envelops the house,
tightening its gloved grip.
It squeezes conversation out of us
'till we're asphyxiated with superficiality.

The smell of bayberry scented candles
waft up into the still, humid air,
enticing us with their seductive tendrils.

Children drift on clouds
of candy-coated dreams, oblivious
to the strangle-hold of solitude
encroached upon us.

Soft candlelight reflects on virtue
awaiting violation.

Contemplation causes momentary
furrowing of baby brows...
restless dreams, a sense of
impending uncertainty.

Innocence prevails;
soft skin smoothes, relaxes;
dreams of ponies and rainbows return.

Oh, to be young again...

Inhaling breaths of ambiguity,
we struggle for composure.
All pretenses torn from our grasp,
we're forced to acknowledge
our frail existence, awkward silence ensuing...

Then our savior, Dennis Miller returns,
delivering us once again from our humanity.

welcome to passions...
well done poem!

If all was light...then I would have never learnt the dark...from which such truth evolves
from which evolves the light...
