* * *  BLANKET OF STARS  * * *

by Linda Munday

Come stand with me and look into the darkness of the night,
To see the place where tears are kept and all the pain takes flight.

A night sky twinkling with a million eyes,
That descends to where the earth meets the sky.

So black yet dotted with specks of white,
That fling themselves thoughout the night.

They sing their silent hymn for the world below,
In their lofty cathedral they are candle's glow.

Unveiling their eyes when the sky is clear,
Each star represents a single tear.

That's made by words and sometimes pride,
By swords of tongues and sometimes lies.

A diamond mansion shimmering in the night,
Our tears to itself is its true delight.

Oh shake free the husks that bind like ropes,
And offer them to the altar of hopes.

Let serenity return to the troubled soul,
And fill with love a broken hearts hole.

A blanket of stars, the earth's dream above,
To take all the tears and replace them with love.

Oh Linda I know, it would be lovely if it was that easy but unfortunately it isn't..it was a beautiful and tender thought though that your poem expressed...thanks for sharing

Beautiful poem.  It brings new meaning to the stars.
