THE WOLF'S RESPONSE

I wandered through the wilderness
Alas, my spirit seemed to be drawn.
Whence I came across the human form-
From which this feeling was spawn.

I stepped forward, quietly allowing-
Myself to be seen amongst the brush.
Eye to eye the world disappeared-
Amidst the river's gentle hush.

I searched the darkness, finding the rose,
An offering of my love.
But as I lay it to her feet, she cried-
'Neath the fading stars above.

Such beauty, I never meant to pain,
But, alas, it seemed so.
As dawn drew near, I too, in tears-
Knew it was time that I must go.

Still I feel the closeness of a moment-
That ended way to soon.
Should we never meet by day in human form,
Look for me the next full moon.

Michael this is the excellent complimentary poem to the Wolf and the Rose!  I love this from the Wolf's point of view.

These two just have to go together hand in hand.

Two of my favorite people, two my favorite poems
As much as I'd love to vote for this, there's no box to check, please fix it so we can vote!

This still affects me...but when they are side by side as in that original I saw, it takes my breathe away!

Absolutly superb, the pair of you....just makes me shiver.

Together in the book they both belong! Excellent Michael

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,
my body goes on, my spirit has died
and I though alive, feel dead inside.

Thanks everyone ... and especially to you, PdV.   Hard to believe how far back these 2 poems were written - Passions wasn't even a Forum yet if I remember correctly.  Nice to see how far we've come looking back.  Thank you, too, Mr. Carnell...

Yet if Hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

A wonderful companion to PDV's poem, my friend. *VOTE!*
