             Vapors

Coffee vapors sweep the floor,
Flow within my bedroom door,
Seek me out like infrared,
Gently rousing me from bed.

Luring me away from sleep,
Rousing me of restful keep,
The promise of my mornings mix
That ever potent mornings fix.

Morphine raptures from a cup,
Lavish tasting that I sup,
Gently ups the waking dead,
Clearing cobwebs from my head.

Subtle brown this liquids brew,
Bringing more than change to view,
Soothes me like a newlywed,
Promising good things ahead.

It is the crown of my surcease,
This pot of brown that fixes peace.
