Whole Sort Of Genl Mish Mash

I never thought I’d have to stand and fight
Against the very people charged to teach
My son to learn to speak and help him reach
What some might call a normal life.  Tonight,
Like many other nights, my doubts indict
The righteousness of my resolve, impeach
The soundness of my judgement, whereas each
Delay exacerbates a young boy’s plight.
It’s hard enough to raise my son without
The added obstacles that aggravate
The fear of knowing every minute choice
I make must be, without the slightest doubt,
In his best interest; a grievous weight
That I must bear to give my boy a voice.

This is so painful, Jim. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to deal with this. Wonderful work, and great job with the format (Italian sonnet am I correct?). And by the way, it has my vote.

I'm not sure what type of writing this is but the story was told through the loving heart of a parent.  We don't know helpless or strength until we are the voice of a child.  Good luck to you~

Hi Jim,

I remember this well from CA. It was great then and still is. A wonderful sequel to "My Son".

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.  Elizabeth, you are correct ... this is an Italian sonnet.

Thanks for all of your kind replies.

The good news is I'm winning the fight.  The better news is the other side doesn't realize how bad they are losing.

Thanks again.

Jim
Both of your wonderful poems should be published in the local paper, in fact in a lot of publications.
I hope they will be. They are certainly engraved in my heart
