Dear Joey…The sun was shining today
It made me think of you
How you used to like
He-man, rock-lords and scooby-doo.

I remember how I
Introduced you to nature day
You liked the worms and the snails
You cried when they went away.

You liked to play with the dog
Squishing your feet in the mud
You liked to pick the dandelions
To smell the rosebud.

You loved to hear me sing to you
     (Believe it or not)
We both used to make up ghost stories
     (Or have you forgot.)

You are growing up so fast
Changing a lot too
But remember wherever you are
I’ll always love you.

The sun was shining today
It made me think of you
My world is brighter with you in it
A little warmer too.

I am only 17 and can't talk from first-hand experience of my children growing up too fast (in this day and age, thats a good thing!) But my friend of 11 yrs has 6 kids (whew!) and I watched them all grow up! Some are old, some are still babies, *sniff* but I remember when I used to help change some of those diapers and sing them to sleep. It'd be unfair to my friend and myself if I didn't vote for this poem.

Wonderful work, MB!  My parents feel like this about me..(or so they've said) and I suppose I will feel like this about my children someday.  Heartfelt work and I'm voting!
