Same Time, Next Life

The days are short, the hours are few
Iíve not much time for loving you
We met upon the sunset hour
And witnessed love begin to flower

The body has grown ill and weak
The mind too fragile dreams to seek
But hearts are beating ecstacy
In rhythms of the pounding sea

Love has come to us too late
A loverís loss, a wicked fate
But time will bury all the strife
Iíll meet you here same time, next life

Just stand upon the ocean pier
The lovliest evening of the year
Against the red of sunset sky
A soul that loved but did not die

Your face will not appear the same
And I wonít even know your name
But this I promise to be true
Within my heart Iíll know itís you

Weíll be as one, as man and wife
Just meet me here same time, next life

Elizabeth Santos

Liz,
I've always enjoyed your poetry, and this one is no different. I love the part about comparing the urgency/heat of passion as the pounding of waves. Thanks for again sharing your gift.

Elizabeth~
If there was ever a poem that I wish I had written,
it would be this one.
My heart has felt the thoughts that you penned.

THANK YOU FOR GIVING IN
TO MY WISHES TO SEE IT SUBMITTED

Definitely my favorite of all you've written, Lizzie.
Such beautiful, beautiful feelings.
Love you, gal.

ok now what good is it if someone walks in here to get a latte and I am all crying!

This was the most touched I have been by a piece of poetry ever, and that is no lie, or even an exaggeration.
This was beautiful, I hope he knows just how very much you love him and how special he is!
God Bless you and him
*hugs*

I didn't hesitate for even a milli second, this has got to be one of the best poems I've ever had the privelege to read.

"Just stand upon the ocean pier
The lovliest evening of the year
Against the red of sunset sky
A soul that loved but did not die"

These two souls could not miss each other!!!
