As dusk began it’s graceful fall,
A sunset with radiant beams,
Settled over the mountainside;
An image seen only in dreams.
The moon snuck into the picture,
Causing shadows to dance on the ground,
One by one the stars appeared,
Stepping in without making a sound.
Cattails now swaying gently,
Keeping time to music unheard.
Moved by the delicate breezes,
As soft as the most loving word.
In the distance the song of crickets,
Bringing melodies to the night,
Bullfrogs adding their rhythm,
Prompted fireflies to show their delight,
Ducks, their heads now hidden,
Slept through this magnificent show,
Slumbering soundly behind the reeds,
Beneath the moon’s velvet glow.
This bog in the evening’s silhouette,
A delicate serenade,
With nature performing nightly,
In this most enchanting glade.

Dearest Bonnie; This is your best ever, I love the enchanting feel and flow as you unfold each wonder of this poetic lanscape and I feel lost in the perfecting of your
wondrous gift for creating so much beauty.
Love, Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.
