There Will Come Soft Rains

~*Marge Tindal*~

Footsteps silent
in the
new-grown grasses
bending softly
under my feet
I walk gingerly
across the
great divide
between
you and I

Footprints
left
on the path
I take
that
brings me
closer
to you

Tenderly
I surrender
whatever vestige
of pride
I wore

There will
come soft rains

springing
the grasses
to life
again

I thank you for letting me know you like it.

So pleased, as always, to know you read me.

Avanti~
Thank you.
The title came from something I read while perusing a web page on events of the US Civil War - it stuck in my head and thus the poem was born.

Marge... this is really a fine poem with so much emotion... my vote's in over here!

I echo the words of those who've responded here.... (oh, except some of what balladeer said... i'm not really interested in having you in my back seat... LOL... but i'll give you a ride to 7-11 if you need one... hehe *wink*)

Great writing, Marge! I'm so glad you submitted this!

This is one that has grown on me
long after I originally penned it.

One little phrase on a chance encounter
through the web ... how lucky am I ?
