(For my grandson, Christian Michael)

You gazed into my eyes tonight
I spied a glimmer of delight

A smile filled with heaven’s grace
So swiftly spread across your face

Alone we were, just you and me
Enraptured in sweet reverie

These times of ponder are the best
By far more special than the rest

I gazed into your eyes tonight
You filled my soul with sheer delight

You touched my hand and then my face
A moment safe from time’s erase

Those eyes that will a future see
Long after I shall cease to be

Tonight have told me I am blessed
They’ll not forsake me when I rest

They’ll carry me long past this night
Remembering long gone delight

Recalling well this time and place
When we were touched by heaven’s grace

And through your eyes I too will see
Those future days still yet to be

Long after I am laid to rest
You’ll sing for me that we were blessed.

Ah, Denise, your poetry is never better than when you write about your grandson. Precious work...

I'm lost in happy memories of when my Grandma used to sit and read me bedtime stories or play in the garden with my brother and I. Thanks for taking me back there!

Denise... this is absolutely lovely... there's nothing like a grandmother's love... this is a wonderful piece!

I haven't seen the others you've submitted yet for the book, but will look... you are a very special and caring person at passions who has always taken the time to give back sooooo much to the community... and you are a fine poet!!... of course, you have my vote here... but I want to vote for more of yours because I want to see several of yours published.

be well. Great writing.
