A Sonnet of Life and Death
(Upon Visiting the Deathbed of my Grandfather)

As men of frail form and noble mind
Stand silently before the doors of death
And softly knock, there fearing now to find
Some emptiness beyond the final breath,
It solace gives to meditate on life
And death embrace no longer as a curse,
But freedom giv'n from bonds of mortal strife
So he that once came last might now come first.
It nothing prospers men who choose to live
A life of preparation for the end
But rich in spirit is the man who gives
The riches of his heart to other men.
Man searches endlessly for love's dim light
And then, only in death, discovers life.

Another excellent sonnet, my new friend. Definitely gets my vote here.......

In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him.

This would fit perfectly on Electro-shock blues. I'm glad you wrote it.

Well, I see that there is a least one more sonnet writer out there. I love this one. Keep it up.

wonderful Novacaine, a poet to rival "Dylan Thomas' "Do not go gentle into that good night"
beautifully written.

"An abyss that lasted creation A circus complete with all fools
Foundations that lasted the ages Then ripped apart at their roots"
joy division

Definitely deserves to be resurrected. Pun intended, though not in a mocking manner. A fine tribute.
