This poem is about a place near where I live.  It is an almost inaccessible place, except for those who are most determined.

POWERFUL SERENITY
Crests and valleys made of sand
Rarely touched by foot or hand
Trekked by some and known by few
Shrubs and tuft drink only dew.

Pelicans wing in graceful flight
Seagulls screech and then alight
Dullest roar of unseen power
Bathing salty hazy shower.

Crest on crest and then one more
Ocean glimpse next time for sure
Bellows now to quickly come
Orchestral roar like kettledrum.

Crown the summit of final sand
Pause; take in the white-capped land
Ocean icy with endless shore
Invades the senses to the core.

Warning but seducing still
"Step into me and take your fill"
High dash waves in majesty
Reverberate serenity.

There is nothing about this poem that does not border on perfection. What a beautiful piece. The words, tempo, rhymes, pace, syllables, etc etc etc are all on the money. Very pleasurable reading, linda

You've only written seven in your life? If you were never to write another poem again -- well, that would suck.   So keep writing!

What makes a poem perfect, I do not know.
But sometimes from my heart to pen, it so easily flows... Thanks jm
