Into the darkness I walk with head held high
That horrible place where hope goes to die
Devoid of all that is good and right
A world that is bathed in eternal night

The path to this land is paved with sorrow
The kind that blocks sight of tomorrow
I ride on the horse named depression
Traveling like a funeral procession

This is a trip never made by choice
A trip for those who had no voice
Those who obey and do as they are told
Now I make the journey, alone and cold

Demons of hate and anger prey on the weak
This is not a place for the fragile or meek
To travel here, you must have wits about you
Without them, you shall never make it through

Of this land there are only two ways out
One is redemption for those without doubt
The other is a grave one indeed
Suicide, for those who choose to bleed

I shall make it through, for I am strong
The trip is dangerous, and the path is long
But once before, I traveled this land
And its tortures I can surely withstand

That was a great poem.  That road is a horrible one to travel, but the strength to make it through is great and within all of us.  Wonderful job!

Dusk is here with vote of his own.. and how could I not vote for this poem?  Into the darkness we go, but keep your eyes on the light.

Bruce Springsteen once said:

"God, have mercy on the man who doubts what he's sure of"...

There is a little bit of darkness and uncertainty in all of us, some dwell on it, some like for the light.  Great poetry...

This is a nice depiction of the long and winding road....

Book bound I am sure! Especially if my vote helps.

Yes, I am here, but I am dead, not alive,

I loved this the first time I read it, and I still love it. You have my vote, my friend.

Travis you have really captured it! I think you've written it exceptionally well!

It is a long, dark road. I'm glad you have the strength to make it through. I've traveled that road, and the last time didn't think I'd make it out.

I like the positive side of the dark you have presented here. The terrible trip into the depths of depression but with the confidence that you have beat it before and can do the same again. This is skillfully written and I enjoyed it immensely...you've got my vote..
