The storm was raging higher
The driving snow and sleet
I spied a child Angel walking down the street
Her wings were down and folded
Her face was wet with tears
Her shoulders seemed to carry the world and all it’s fears

Tragically I watched her
As she stumbled on her way
No halo shone above her on her face so dank and grey
She fell upon her knees
At the house of wealth and fame
She rapped upon the door but they thought
It was a game

She sat there on the veldt side
Her head bowed in great despair
Such a pitiful sight sitting crying there
Her tears were big and flooding
Her sobbing tortured cry
That sound I’ll carry with me until the day I die

Her little form was heaving
With tears shed from the heart
It was so sad and rending I felt my own tears start
Together we were crying
For the world so big gone wrong
But there was no one there to hear our freedom song

The fallen Angel tears
Began now to abate
I put my arm around her to quell her sodden state
She slipped her hand in mine
‘There’s no need to be alone’
Her tears no longer falling I took my Angel home
