~ Maiden to the Sea ~    by poetFemmeFatale

Something was pulling her, out toward the sea
so she walked toward the cliff, ever angelically...
Far below waves were crashing & foaming so white
she breathed the air deep & envisioned her flight...

Her long dress blew round her & so did her hair
out across the dark waters, her gaze frozen there...
Something was pulling her, out toward the sea
the ocean her lover, beckoned on mystically...

She looked o'er her shoulder, her castle now gone
the tide took it from her, her dream of so long...
She looked at her hands; they were empty & frail
and the screams that escaped her - were to no avail...

She looked in her heart, full of passion and fire
all those who knew her - frowned on her desire...
She cried fevered tears - always misunderstood
so much love to give, she had tried, never could.

Something was pulling her, out toward the sea
her face toward the heavens - "So mode it be"...
She lifted her arms up; her voice rang out sweet
as she sang of the waters, peaceful, ready to greet...

this maiden whose soul was too weary to cry...
On the cliff, there she sang such a sweet lullaby
Her arms raised, were wings of an angel so fair
As she flies, if you listen...her song echoes there...

Wow, this definately has to be one of my favorites of yours!!!  I love the story you created, I feel as though I can relate to the "maiden"!!  I love poetry that moves me and this does!!

"Creation of woman from the rib of Man: She was not made from his head to top him; nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him; but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved." -Unknown

Beautiful poem.  It told me a great story.  I loved this one.

Gorgeous, PFF!  I think this would make a glorious addition to the book!

pFF,
This is perfection. I know how unyielding I can be with critiques some times, but this just blew me away. I love that the castle was lost to the tide; I love the whole thing.
This BETTER get into the book.

I want to thank all of you for your votes on this one - it holds a very dark but special place in my heart.  It's somewhat of  a "closure" in my life for a previous chapter, that cast alot of shadows, yet taught me alot about who I really am, and for that, I am thankful.  I have far more confidence now that I am on the right road....Thank you all again!
