Even if this gets nowhere near the book, I just wanted to share it again, in hopes people would read it.   I really like this one.

Mike

-i am goodbye-
I am sunlight.
I am rain.
I am living.
I am pain.
I am mud-colored stones in a brook,
a long winding passage in a must-read book,
a turret of your castled rook,
a long lustful backward goodbye look.

I am nature.
I am love.
I am a woman.
I am a dove.
I am a man.
I am a horse.
I am an insect.
I am divorce.

I am sweetness.
I am your tongue.
I am your eyes.
I am all wrong.
I am all right.
I am the night.
I am a flashlight
With the batteries almost gone.

I am the long cords in your arms.
I am what you say when it can only end in harm,
Imploding collapse, a broken calm,
Middle finger all that's left of your palm,
Birds suddenly singing deathly psalms,
No longer just your only two's song.

I am love.
I am hate.
I am goodbye.
I am too late.
I am the rope from which you pretend to hang.
I am the words still sharp as fangs.
Puncture wounds and so-long swoons,
Nights alone watching the arc of the moon.

I am the diminished glow on your face.
I am the final night of her lingerie lace.
I am the first sun pouring through the blinds
When nothing but nothing is left on your mind.
I am your friends trying to help you through.
I am the loneliness that ferments and stews.
I am her, I am you.
Tell me what you want to do.

I can imagine a Shakespeare bust flying around, and it's very surreal.   Thanks, Bal(ladeer). I appreciate it.
