Originally written under a different pen-name, this remains my all time favourite poem that I have written. And yes, LOL, I have got witnesses that it is mine

The Dream.

I blink in dawn's fresh golden light
Beholding such a wondrous sight
A vision that is fresh and fair
Your silken sunlit fiery hair
A spreading fan across my chest
Where your dear head laid down to rest
I stroke it gently from your face
And gasp in awe at your sweet grace
I watch your mouth, the soft moist lips
Caress your cheek with fingertips
Touching your alabaster skin
I know more beauty lies within.
I blink in dawn's fresh golden light
And hope this dream returns tonight.

Well my original intention was to stuff the ballot box, but Ceres would know better.
I love this poem Eric, I did the first time I saw it a long time ago! The rhythm and meter, and rhyme are all spot on!
Kudos sweets on a magnificant piece of verbal art.

Eric,
I always respect a poet who can speak of beauty without overwrought language and gushing sentimentality. Very cool.

Eric~

I can see why you love this poem so much.  It is beautiful.  Wonderful job, and a wonderful dream.

I always enjoy a poem of well constructed couplets. It can be so difficult to construct but you have done so with eloquence.

What a response!!!!   I've just spent the whole evening reading some great poetry in this forum and I'm afraid I'm too tired to thank you all individually. Let me just say it is an honour to recieve such kind words from some of the greats here at passions
THANKYOU!

Eric.

Ahhh, at last it seems I have some time to write a proper thankyou to you all

Heather, what can I say? to have a poem called "a magnificant piece of verbal art." by you is high praise indeed (even though you spell it magnificEnt :Þ~~~ (YES!!! Revenge IS sweet   ))

Kit, I'm glad you feel it flowed smoothly. I sat for hours just trying to get three more syllables without changing the meaning of the poem. This was a very special poem for a very very special lady and it had to be "perfect".

Sudhir, If my poetry makes someone feel something and gives them pleasure once, I too am happy. To know that you read it "a few more times" and still gained pleasure from it makes me REALLY happy. Thankyou

Thanks Chris, glad ya like!

Sharon, you've got far too many posts as it is, but thankyou muchly for this one

Mike, I wanted to say what was in my heart without resorting to overstatement... I'm glad you feel I managed it... thanks.

*giggles* Thanks Netswan, now I can't get the song out my head!!! "Poetry in motion.."

It was a wonderful dream and an even better reality when it finally came true. Thanks  Cassandra

SEA, not too bad for a man is it?

Femme, would a modest smile be enough of a reply? Thankyou!

Janet Marie, exquisite reply   LOL I'm getting a bit overwhelmed now... it's great to know I've made so many people really feel something through my words.

Thankyou Cerenity. glad you like it.

Call the next witness! Ah MissMilliToo thanks

Yep, it can be hairtearingly difficult Pete, but worth it when it all comes together

Nan, just cuz I give you cheeky replies doesn't mean you have to return the favour! Well, ok, it does   Thanks pal!

Romantic Heart, It DID!!!!

Thankyou all, you have touched my heart.

Thanks for reading and replying Linda. I hope it was a nice "squishy"!

Sorry Rex, it's MY dream and I'm keeping it, but you're more than welcome to a copy of the poem to see if it inspires a dream of your own   Thanks a lot for the reply.

And thankyou Bridgette, me glad you likes

It would be impossible not to applaud any poem that is so grammatically and structurally perfect and manages to contain such beautiful lines...not an easy task and yet you did it expertly..in other words, I like this one, Eric!
