Gazing at the autumn leaves caught in a breeze
I see a brief reflection of the inner me
Blowing to and fro...back and forth they tease
Lifting up...dropping down trying to break free

One minute holding to the strength of the limb
Then swept away in arms of the breeze
Soaring...floating toward the heavens it swims
A moment of freedom...once released from the trees

Just when it’s seen all the beauty it can stand
The embrace of the wind  lets go
Released from the hold of a strong hand
Questioning where it will land....it does not know

Spinning helplessly past others held tight
With no wings or arms to reach out
Left powerless...falling from their sight
If only it had a voice...you would hear it shout

Bracing for the impact as it plummets down
Snatched from the fall within another gust
Surrounded by sunlight’s golden gown
To the wind it bestows unfailing trust

Again soaring free....then the wind lets go
Spiraling downward without a net to save
Landing out of sight...the wind ceases to blow
To the wind it became a mere slave

Brilliant colors to browns they dim
Left to dry, fall apart  and decay
Life's breath gone with out the limb
The wind blows the last remains away

My absolute favourite season.  You have taken one single event and entwined all facets of autumn within it.   A show of beauty, finality and renewal.  I loved it!

Goddess......yes I agree.......this was beautiful....very touching.....and the colors were great. Let the wind blow.........You do realize that you are amazing right?  This is one of my favorite's I would have to say as it captures a living event and mimicks a feeling I have felt....What is that a metaphor or something......LOL
Take care.

BDC, I am right there with you, so you like to spirit surf the winds as well. A beautiful poem, loved this so much.

Butterflies, my kid, I wasn't around when you posted this, but I think it is that time of year again and fits in just fine!  Fall is the end of something but it leaves in such splender!  Hurry back,  Mom Earth
