I longed to see you in September
when leaves kiss the ground
and mother earth
wears her rustic crown

but the leaves in September
swept you into her arms
breaking my heart once again

she is a fresh blossom
untouched by your hand
only once did you caress me
in this far away distant land

leafy teardrops
sweep upon my window
in light of the moon
wondering why?
"See You in September"
was not written for me

moondrops fall upon my pillow
knowing soon September
will be swept away with you

So very sad and heartfelt.  You penned it well and the loss of a promise from a love is never easy but hope the write helps to make it a little better.
