My butt is draggin’ on the ground;
My head is spinnin’ round and round;
"Fax this, type that, and copy both";
I’m buried under papers’ growth.

“This absolutely has to go
Today. You mean you didn’t know?”
The stack grows higher on my floor
And I can’t take it anymore.

Sometimes I wish I had a clone;
Some act as if I am their own
Indentured servant, I could scream;
Please wake me from this draining dream.

Is this the price I have to pay
For doing work the honest way
While others doodle, gab, malign,
And shuffle papers, primp and whine?

It's said a good deed's always punished
But...
Just once I’d like the sloths admonished.

hehehehe.....just blowing off a little steam...Guess what I got at work last week for doing such a good job for my two lawyers? Can you guess? A raise? NO! Right!! A third lawyer!! And guess what else? The secretary who sits next to me is leaving on Friday and because she never felt like doing her filing....it was given to me!! I don't have to develop the art of 'looking' busy because I am busy!! And all the lawyers say they want me to be their secretary!! Think I could handle all seven? Thanks James, Kit, Balladeer and Doreen for reading and for your delightful replies! Hey, Doreen, where's the water cooler and smoking area?! I need a break!! LOL

Just take an emergency leave of absence and let them deal with how much they need you. Then you should be able to get that raise.LOL...you vent em girl....BTW....how is the hunt coming on the painting?

Denise, great write! I can relate as I, too, work for attorneys, however, not as closely as you. I'm in the accounting office. Close enough.

I love the law poetry (I'm taking paralegal classes, have my internship this spring, and then will start the wonderful new hobby of looking for a job in a law firm!). So, tell me, are all days like this one? Just kidding, I know (hope) they won't be. But hey you gotta smile and laugh about all the stressful moments and it all works out.
