     “ALEXANDRIA - THE GYPSY GIRL”

A long, long time ago, in a land now forgotten,
        somewhere on the steppes,
             of southern Asia…
There was a tribe of people called the ‘Roma’,
and there, lived a gypsy girl,
             named Alexandria…

In this camp they all called her, ‘beautiful Alex’,
she walked all over the grounds,
             in her bare feet…
Couldn’t afford shoes, her family was poor,
        she washed every ones clothes,
only so her family could eat…

She had coal black hair, down to her waist,
was very beautiful, with big dark eyes,
             and tender ways…
She was a gypsy girl, all through to the heart,
        and had the prettiest smile,
             warm like the suns rays…

Well one day, there came this handsome ‘Roma’ King,
sitting on a big white horse,
             made her heart sing…
It didn’t seem, as if he paid her any attention,
        but he sure wanted her,
             to give his wedding ring…

Now every night, in this ‘Roma’ camp,
        there was a dance,
             with the ‘Romani’ beat…
When the music began, and festivities started,
the King asked for her hand,
as he wanted her to meet…

The stars shone in the heavens, a beautiful night,
        the logs were burning,
             they lit up the sky…
And they danced to the music, of the ‘Roma’ people,
        holding each other,
             his heart he couldn’t deny…

She broke away free, and felt this ‘Romani’ beat,
        danced all around him,
             and twirled about…
Her arms curved overhead, a colorful skirt flowing,
he looked at this most beautiful sight,
             and didn’t have any doubt…

Dance Alexandria, dance,
as a Queen you will become,
             you have captured his heart,
                   even now as you whirl…
Never again, would he ever feel the same,
       since he met the ‘Roma’,
             they called ‘beautiful Alex’,
                   the gypsy girl…

Bill

This is such a beautiful story.  You write so well, the passion and love just spills all over it.  Alexandria is such a beautiful name for a lovely lady.  You describe everything so well it almost makes you feel like you are there dancing with her.  You are a wonderful romantic!
