the stop lights blink and sway
here in the heart of the city
casting a greenyellowred
          glow through the dark

standing on the corner looking above him
he considers the intersection
     of his life
is he there now?
does he greengo, redstop, or
does he yellowcaution?
the choices are there
before him

he sees the crowd waiting for him
they are ready with their stones
they stand in front of
          the crowd ready to hurt
but they merely try to take the
attention away from their own
     glass house
they rear back. . .

he will endure
he will perservere
he knows the price he must pay
it's Thursday night here
in the heart of the city

the light is green. . .

Well done Sven! Sometimes if feels like there's a never-ending line-up of those ready to cast a stone, but we do always have our own choices to make ... glad to see green's a GO for you! I enjoyed this!

Best wishes,
/Kit

You've got me waiting breathlessly for the next in the series.  Even though I'm a country girl, I'm enjoying this voyeuristic view into the city.  Love it!

Reminds me of a time where I found myself living in a neighborhood where I thought it wasn't safe so I moved to what I considered to be a better one and guess what.  I was safer in the OLD neighborhood as it only took 2 weeks to be broken into in the supposedly SAFE neighborhood.  Moved back after the 3rd incident and realized that when I feel insecure it is usually a product of my own making.

Nice verse with great metaphors and if the light is green then be on your merry way and look never at the crowd again.  In other words....floor the damn pedal!!!!!

Sven sometimes it seems like it takes forever for the light to turn green. Glad yours finally has.
