Selfish  (I Am... or so I am told)

Sometimes, this I am
When I think of loving
It may seem like jealousy to some.
In truth it's a yearning
To be someone special
And not be just "another one."

A dimpled smile
I would send your way
Oh, I'd share just a touch with all.
But the deepest with meaning
From my hidden thoughts
Would be saved just for you, when you call.

Don't you see
To be special to someone else
Has it's own selfishness to behold.
In the arms when I'm held
Or the kiss of your touch
Are the memories inside, to unfold.

If selfish, I am
To want to be loved
And to give, what I have in return,
Then the title will stand
I can wait, 'til the time
That another will share in my "yearn."

Another sweet missive from you, Maureen - I see your point very clearly - thank you for the insights, as they sometimes slip by the wayside as people write of attraction and romance.

Well, Long John..I am often accused of being jealous or selfish but really it's just me being sensitive and I happen to be hyper sensitive... sort of a fault...you have to either take me as I am or not ...I do happen to like me most of the time...*s

Maureen sometimes it's better to think of self first, and if that's selfish then I am too. All to often we put our selves to one side while we let others have the lives that they want. This is so full of your truth, take care of yourself, because you have a right to be happy.

Yes I believe in some selfishness..I don't want to share my husband or lover if I had one...it's just not me....and If I am to give 100% plus I would hope they would do that and more..
