(An old post I thouught you'd enjoy) (Carly= Carly Simon, Imagine your own song - or "Coming Around Again") Carly's voice comes 'crost the air Thin clouds cleave the western sky Pink incisions in pale blue Leaving the dull orange sun Dropping more quickly About to disappear As they creep with infinite slowness Forward Scent of light perfume Invades the room Blends with candle wax Suffusing the air Bouquet deftly arranged In vase on table Bracketed by the two tall thin tapers Mounted in crystal holders Linen napkins carefully ironed Folded with precision Set on each plate All the silver in sight Carefully polished The bedroom dimly seen Also lit A single candle Bed turned down Sitting on the sofa Watching the sky darken The clock ticks inexorably Waiting for the sound Of a key in the lock ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |
