To Know a Butterfly

You see the beauty on the outside
and stare with delight
You reach out and try to touch
never once feeling fear
You see in the day all the beauty
never thinking about the night
So what happens...when the butterfly
needs to shed a lonely tear

Look at the beauty that is encased
within the pastel wings
Look at the love that is hidden
in the colorful heart
There is a song hidden deep inside
one she reluctantly sings
The butterfly's tune is one of sorrow
hidden until the day will depart

The sorrow comes from inward beauty
that we so often overlook
The pain from days of judgement
as she strives so much to please
The soul of a butterfly is one of gold
and as novel as any classic book
Always ready to have the pages read
no longer wanting to simply tease

Did you know that butterflies have words
that they wish to share
Did you ever take the time to see
if there was even a voice
I have listened with my heart
because this I did dare
I have found in the passing of many a day
that she has given me that choice

Deep within the walls of patterns
glistening in the sun
Hidden amidst the breezes in trees
as she flutters on by
There is a softened heart begging
to have you not shun
Her words , her feelings, her voice
listen and you may hear her cry

There is this wondrous loving heart
deep within this beauties soul
There flows in the veins of her
a life giving force of love
All things in her life so far
have taken their toll
But yet her beauty she still gives
as she flutters in the sky above

Love her, admire her, desire her
but do not ignore whats there
Just because her wings are smiling
with the colors of pastel
Look deep within so that you may find
all the real beauty she has to share
This my friend is the only way to see
and to know the butterfly well

Waking up to butterfly tales...this is sure
to be a wonderful day.  If it were merely a
"butterfly tale" that would have been
enough...but you always take things one step
further...this is so tender and
delicate...I'm left in awe of not only your
work Mark but also your heart...this is an
amazing display of each.

once again all I really need to say is ...
"ditto" to the words of a butterfly...
hmmmm that kind of SAYS IT ALL ...dont it.

...so does this amazing verse ...

"Did you know that butterflies have words
that they wish to share
Did you ever take the time to see
if there was even a voice
I have listened with my heart
because this I did dare
I have found in the passing of many a day
that she has given me that choice"

theres nothing I can add here that will do this poem justice (or the poet)

Mark...
Your words are a constant source of joy to me....as you write with the pen of your heart.......

P.S.
Would you someday tell me how to get pictures and icons inserted into the New Topic page? I've tried the instructions, and for some reason, it won't work for me.
I would sure appreciate it, as I have about a million I could use.    Thanks!!

LngJhnAg-Thank you kind sir.  Always a pleasure to have you stop by.  Now don't forget to pet the kitties "AGAIN" on your way out. ....don't worry I won't tell.

passing shadows-Thank you so much and I appreciate you stopping by.

Marina-Are you sure?   Damn girl...think I will keep you around just to make me smile more.LOL  Thank you much.

Gemini-My pleasure and thank you for you.

suthern-Thank you

Wilfred-And double that to you and your generous replies. Thank you.  Never had a gut rate me before.LOL

Martie-If not for her wings my heart would be locked forever.  Thank you so much my friend.

Sunny1-And our visits whether your post or mine are a constant source of JOY to me as well.  Now for the lessons....I think maybe I am the wrong one to help but check your email for what I do know.  I just myself learned how to do this so you may have to ask a more skilled poet but I will do my best for you always.  Thank you my friend.

After reading this poem, the first words out of my mouth were WOW!  It's a shame that it took me this long to finally read this gem.  Mark, this is amazing in both poetic verse and in message.  You are becoming one of my favourite poets in here, I always love your poems and stand in awe of your talent!  And I love butterflies too!  From now on when I gaze upon a butterfly, I will also remember your wise words and relate them to that of a person as well      They say that for the most part, you can tell a lot about a person from the stories they write and from the poems they pen and my friend, after reading many of your pieces, I have come to the conclusion that you are beautiful - inside and out with many unique colours like that of a butterfly. Do I get brownie points now? LOL      I truly mean that and please don't be so modest, a publishing company would be fools if they didn't publish a book of your poetry.

A few of my favourite lines:

"Look at the beauty that is encased
within the pastel wings
Look at the love that is hidden
in the colorful heart"

"Deep within the walls of patterns
glistening in the sun"

"Love her, admire her, desire her,
but do not ignore what's there
Just because her wings are smiling
with the colors of pastel
Look deep within so that you may find
all the real beauty she has to share
This my friend is the only way to see
and to know the butterfly well"

WOW!

Take care,

Melissa-Brownie points????? Heck girl, after all that just tell me where you want the moon hung.   Okay so I will say thank you and I remain humbled by your sincere praise as I will give thought to your suggestion.  How could I not at least give it consideration after one such as yourself gives me such a powerful glowing on the inside.  I am happy to find that I am one of your favorite poets and please "KNOW" that I will "NEVER" tire of having your name on my posts.  I will forever look forward to seeing and reading your visits with me.  Now if I simply say THANK YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL AND THE ESSENCE OF MY HEART will that be okay?  I am truely humbled by your words of praise but feel I could now soar to any heights.

JM-My friend, I believe between that "jewel" and you being the "gem" that you are, then I am one blessed cowboy.  Thank you my dearest friend.

Balladeer-Thank you so much sir....as you are finding out...emotion is my muse most of the time...the only "TRUE" way for me to write.....thus the can of spam was from the heart as well ....now you know!!!!

BirdeeB-Why thank you so much and as for the encouragement....any time you need it....it is always free around here.

Well a poet I may or may not be
But one thing I have learned in time
Is that I write from my heart for all to see
And most often than not it lands in rhyme

Sometimes you save one to give you
that delicious little Hershey's Kiss
just before closing your eyes ....
Oh, my ... and I'm off to La-La Land
dreaming of sweet, beautiful Butterflies,
and knowing that one has lit within your heart,
makes me smile ... again.

Precious Butterfly~ ... this is a man with vision ....
he sees within your heart and your soul.
Soar, little Butterfly~
all of the nectar of the garden is within
your fluttered reach.

Love n' hugs and all that jazz !

Marge-Thank you my dear friend and yes I think she is a keeper as are you my dear one.  Her to keep me in line(somewhat...as long as she continues to tie me up) and you to keep around so I can safely get into trouble.LOL

Sheri-Why thank you so much and isn't it so wonderful to have so much beauty surrounding us especially when we take the time to relish it.

Kit-do you know what is truely beautiful....your gleeful heart and attitude as you make me smile with each visit and you so readily accept challenges.

Parker-No thinking about....she "IS" the most remarkable and loving person I could ever hope to find and as each day passes I learn that there is so much more she has to offer and she does it so sweetly and softly.  Locked up in her beauty is a beauty yet undefined.  Thank you so very much sir for your visits of late and I wanted to tell you that you also are appreciated.
