Rocking Horse Lane

If I could live anywhere
It would be on Rocking Horse Lane,
A winding, dusty road that ends
In a valley dotted with apple trees
Cooled by remote ocean breezes,
With a magnificent falling down barn.
Tennessee Walkers would grace the land
With exceptional gaits and colors,
Perhaps a few Arabians for mystery.
Always loved cows, so bring on the Jerseys
How many acres would I need now?
And grapes, I’d grow soft purple fruit
Crushing in September’s gentle glow,
Surprising neighbors and friends
With homemade Zinfandel.

In the distance, to the east
Mountains change white with winter,
Meandering through the property
A gurgling sliver of a brook,
Maybe a small pond for the kids,
Stocked with rainbow trout.
A veranda, the wraparound kind,
And oak trees as old as this state.

Most importantly, one key element
Without this, it wouldn’t feel right,
Inside this pretty, blue and white house
This ranch on Rocking Horse Lane -
My sweet darlin,’ you.

Sounds like the perfect place to me.  Wonderful verse and the imagery shines brightly....makes me want to see it and live it as well.  Loved the ending.....now that makes it complete.

Corinne, a wonderful picture. I could see it all. I love your paintings they are so life like. The kind you just want to jump into because they are so alive with life.

Thank you, Mark! It's only a few miles from here, but worlds away!

Seymour - about time you got the hint!  Come on down!

Park, thank you, sweet one.

Sure Denise, the more the merrier!

I think Marge wins, though, cuz she'll clean fish!!!

A man would have to be off his rocker not to want to be in such a wonderful setting with you, Corinne. This is really, really nice....

This is so beautifully painted with words that I have to ask......
When you find this piece of heaven, would you consider taking in wandering poet/musicians??   Just thought I'd ask!!!    P.S.....I'll even do the housework in lieu of rent!!

Yanno, Corinne - If you let Lorelei visit once in awhile, I could move in there, too!  I'll be your Cabana Boy, milk the cows (used to do that when I was a kid), and be sure there are lots of rainbow trout.  Send me a map...
