      She walks along the beach...
      Making footprints in the sand...
Her shoes are clasped within the grasp
      of cold and shaking hands...
The water's stormy tides are smashing hard
      upon the shore...
This is where she's come to think...
      So many times before...

Through all her life, she's loved the smells,
and sounds of the great sea...
      As a toddler making castles...
Or a young girl running free...
The first time that she gave herself,
      was on the golden sand...
And later, it was here.....a young man
      asked her for her hand...

      With babies of her own,
She brought them here to run and play...
And held them as they watched the tide,
      sweep castles all away...
The happiness of growing years flew by her,
      one by one...
Then came the year she lost it all...
      Her marriage was all done...

But life goes on, and sings a song,
      for everyone alive...
She learned to stand up tall...
and play the game to just survive...
She also learned to guard her heart,
      and hide it's fragile key...
The only time she felt at peace,
      was here.......beside the sea...

So many years have come and gone...
      Her time is growing old...
She gave her heart just one last time...
      He also took her soul...
So now she looks upon her sea...
      with memories of the past...
And walks into it's welcoming depths...
      to find her peace...
                          at last

What an emotion filled poem.  Happiness, contentment, serenity, and all that leading to the sadness of (or beauty, depending on who you are) in the end.  Loved this one alot my friend.

Thank you Mark.....it's just about life, and all the emotions encompassing one woman's time. In the end, she returned to the only thing in her life that had always been there for her.  Not sad....just the end!

Hi Paula...
I'm glad you brought this back, also. It's kind of my life in a seashell, so to speak, except for the ending!!
Thank you, my twin.....

Good evening Sunny,
Geez, they have me working so hard I thought I read this one. But then maybe I did and didn't know it. But, maybe I didn't and thought I did. But if I did read it, then I can't figure out why I didn't reply. But then, Oh well, here I am anyway.

Always you write so smooth, and so from your heart. Not many like you Sunny.

Sunny,

I couldn't believe I found this wonderful poem on one of the back pages with only 9 replies.  It's so well written and as you know, I am also a great lover of the sea.  I'm leaving Passions...you probably don't know yet. You're welcome to e-mail me whenever you like and I do hope that you will.  I'd still like to co-write a poem someday with you when you've got the time.  Anyway, take care my dear friend and I hope to hear from you.

Michael

Hi Dani...
It's ok to be behind!! My Grandmother used to say that you get a better view of things from the back.....it's less crowded and more relaxed!!  Glad to see you here, and so glad you liked this one. It's kinda special to me, too.......
            Thank you so much!!!!

Hi Irie...
Yes....you sound like me!  I was raised on the beach, and still prefer it to any other place. Glad you had fun here!!
