the shadows of oaks play their wood hands over the stillness of the pond.
my goth princess finds me in favor. she anoints me with her lips.
she calls the moon a small, shining salvation in the ash
that covers her body, makes her voice hoarse.

my goth princess dresses in autumn leaves and dusk.
her lips move words that move men to deeds.
undoes them, leaves them to wither.
she looks into the pool she made with the sweat of men and women,
purified by the oaks' roots. she likes to touch them in the mist.

my goth princess makes love to me on cold stone.
she writes the poetry of my grave.
her hand never moves, and yet i'm held by her.
what can i do, when i want to give her my soul?

my goth princess offers me no salvation --
none like you would understand.

i am ready to take her hand.

i am ready to be
her mountain man.

This is fabulous, Mike.  Mystical and magical--it made me feel witchy--and as you know, I LIKE feeling witchy...smiles to you, you owe me an e, too, bud.

Serenity,
Hey, girl. How's it hangin'? I'll e-mail you soon -- I have to tell you about my experiences (all good) housesitting for a co-worker and her pit bull and labrador. And by the way, good poetry lives.

y'know... sometimes you write verse which tells me you are on the cutting edge of poetry which slams the reader into the wall of reality, ahhh but gently, somehow... it's hard to explain .... with such vivid and unique phrasing...

this one is one of those from you .... you have some very powerful lines in here and create an atmosphere which haunts, intrigues and pulls me into your world... excellent writing!

~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry ~

doreen,
Thanks for your kind words. A "bestselling poet" is an oxymoron, but that's not to say I won't try!

Mike~
This is a very moving piece of poetry.

'her lips move words that move men to deeds'

That's only ONE of the great lines you've
tucked away in here.
Poignant poetry.
