To Love Again

I’ve flown the winds at arrow speed
On cupid’s golden dart
I’ve mended broken bits of dreams
Within this eggshell heart

I’ve known the laughter two can share
I‘ve cried the tears of one
And pondered those decisions made
That cannot be undone

I’ve bobbled on the highs and lows
Of ocean’s pulsing crests
And always sailed back to the port
Where love has been the best

Whatever dream was in my heart
Was lost at sea somehow
Whatever love is left to give
I offer to you now

No more love songs to be sung
No golden darts for me
For this time I awake with lips
The taste of fine chablis

This is so lovely... there's an aura of sadness... but also a sense of satisfaction... and isn't that what life is all about - acknowledging regrets, but celebrating accomplishments? *S* I liked!

This was beautiful but sad.  Whatever you are feeling, I hope you find solace in prayers and in your God given talent here.

WOW! This is excceptional Elizabeth. As Martie said, sad yet beautifully done! You have conveyed the emotion in this so very well.

In a short time - it seems I've read so many of your poems - yet this one came through so strongly and forcefully - I know it will be one I read again and again. I'll simply say [[[hugs]]] and prayers
