There is a door in front of me
That wasn't there before
Which promises true ecstacy
If I walk through that door.

It beckons me with love devine
If I will but pass through
To taste the pleasures that are mine.
That door, my dear, is you.

I stand here just a step away
From everything you pledge
And yet it seems to me I may
Be standing on a ledge

The great unknown lies just beyond
Just barely out of view
Thin ice that masks a frigid pond?
The doorway that is you.

It may just be that I am scared
I've walked through doors before
To find that I was ill-prepared
For all that lay in store

And, yet, your words invite me so
I'm not sure what to do
Should I step through or should I go
From that door which is you.

If hesitation worries you
Please try to understand
Experiences I've been through
Cause me to stay my hand

Are you a door to heaven's gate
Or to the gates of Hell?
Will we find love or learn to hate
Each other? Who can tell?

So here I stand, with feet of lead
Without a single clue
Hold back or rush right through, instead
The doorway that is you.

Just make sure you wear your "raincoat" my friend...the storms nowadays are much more wicked than they used to be.  Excellent read my friend and I am so glad you reposted it.  Beautiful verse and I love reading your posts especially the ones of the heart.   Bowing to one of the masters

'deer-
some worn out cliche' s:
"dammed if you do - dammed if you don't"
"He who hesitates is lost"
"look before you leap"

You've crafted a great poem and avoided them all - I'm proud of you

I remember this one well!

You know as you walk through it
It may close up in your face
But I'll be sure I do it
With all gentleness and grace

hehehe    Couldn't resist Mike.

I still love it, more so now than then!

Balladeer--I believe in opening doors... when you hesitate, then you loose something that could have been.  Love this poem!

Balladeer, each threshold of life presents new challenges. Doors, doors, doors. Where is Monte Hall when you need him?

I very much enjoyed this.

I sit here depressed, forlorn
From reading this great yarn...
No dithering did I receive
But screams of "Yikes! A BARN!" *G*
No cosy little cottage here
No penthouse rich and fine
Awaits the fool who lingers near
This doorway that is mine.

Now, Deer one... will it be the lady or the tiger? *G* Loved your poem!

Balladeer you genius you.  I am glad you reposted.  I really enjoyed this.  But just think - it could be the door to heaven and love eternally.

hmmmmm dare I answer this one...
I have to say the end result of temptation is not as good as the beginning, thats for sure.
Well written insight of the human struggle.

very nice confusion here...but I always say you never know until you try, and if you don't try, you'll wonder of it for life.

'Deer - a response is required *heh heh*

You know why you're in the doorway,
You write with eclectic flair.
You insist on posting your way,
Now you get the electric chair!

Take him away, jailer!

I like your poem, Mike - It's just that YOU must be stopped!  lol

suthern - what a great response - lmbo@barn - you really should not be so self-deprecating - you are a beautiful person.

I loved this for many reasons. The metaphor of "doors' is a very special one for me, as I recently posted one about a woman going through a door...the meaning and all. I believe the most important thing I get from this message is that some doors also have locks. If you find someone you can trust, you don't need the lock, or a key, entry is available, the going in and coming out, but once that trust is broken, the lock is put on and there is a sadness there. This is going in my library, to remind me that each door in our lives must be constantly maintained for trust, reassurance that those we want to enter through don't need a key. That they come in with gladness and joy. That's the way it should be!

There is a door before me ...
it leads to poetry.
Once I cross the threshold,
there are endless treasures to behold.
So many words of wisdom written by the wise,
so many well penned verses..they bring tears to my eyes.
Today in my travels..I happened upon this door..
and it happened once again ... like so many times before.
I read Deers words of wisdom, grace, and bliss ...
and it makes me shout out my window ...
OH HOW I LOVE WHEN YOU WRITE LIKE THIS
