--- Beyond The Next Rise ---

Determination and hope,
Color her eyes
Her happiness rests
Beyond the next rise.

So many long years
Looking far, looking wide
She's looked for it everywhere,
But right by her side.

He never grew tired
He was there ‘til the end.
Never given a thought,
He is "only a friend

"She told him each time
A new "love" came along.
How each one is wonderful,
Handsome and strong.

Then one by one
They’d tell her their lies.
They took what they would
Leaving tears in her eyes

When each new love hurt her,
She’d sob asking "why ?"
He said not a word,
Just hugged her and sighed.

But she kept right on looking.
Love could not long hide.
She looked for it everywhere,
Except by her side.

She knew there was happiness
Beyond that next rise.
He just stayed close beside her
And quietly sighed.

Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?"

Ah, tender, sweet, poignant...and sometimes too true...

Sometimes we need not look further than by our side.  Again this is very well done.  I wrote one similar to this called "More Than A Friend".  Excellent read.

Sure hope that person by her side speaks up soon. Say hey, I lvoe you, you know that? Best of luck. Sometimes you have to scream to get the special one to pay attention...

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

It's no good Cuddlez, unless they see for themselves

LonelyStranger~
This is a poignant piece of your heart.

I offer this -

I can't imagine what one gains by being silent ...
If you didn't tell me ...
perhaps I'd never know.
What a loss that would be.

Sometimes a person needs a little help removing those blinders that hamper their peripheral vision so they CAN see clearly and know they've saved the best for last. *S* Well done!

Marge,
wonderful poetic response the verse is beautiful. LOL, and it would probably work for those who are not terminally shy

Thanks Suthern I think most just need to have a pair of x-ray glasses to see through the "outer surface"
