It’s Happening…
Right outside my window…
Mother Nature at her best…
Putting dwellings to the test…
Seeing how much human stuff will blow away!

Thar She Blows…
I’m looking down the sidewalk…
Watching garbage cans and lids…
Do what Mother Nature bids…
It’s a full-blown storm at work on us today…

Anchor Down!
See the boats out in the Harbor…
If you own one, hurry fast…
Looks like winds are going to last…
Tie it down, or watch your boat sink in the bay!

Say Goodbye…
To my poor flower garden…
Winds have broken all their heads…
Mother Nature cleaned my beds…
Petals now become a carpet where they lay…

Raging Storm…
In all it’s gusty splendor…
Safe within my quiet space…
Watching all the powers race…
Morning Storm is Mother Nature’s way to play!

Sunny1 - You had me smiling by the second stanza - what a great presentation, and a positive, terrific approach!  This is truly a fun poem.  I love it.

I had to come back here and say I really really love the opening lines to each stanza - they make the whole poem come alive and set the playfullness in motion - what a fun-loving spirit you have!

Hi LJA...
Well, sir, I thank you for all those nice things you said!! Yes, I love watching the earth and all its glories at work....guess I'd rather be outside in nature than anywhere else!! I do enjoy having fun, and writing about my loves in life. But most of all I enjoy sharing it with my friends, like you.  Thank you for all your support......makes me smile!!

Hi Sunny

I like what you have done - I was reaching for my coat and bracing against the wind just reading it.  Now the real question - what did you do to trick Mother Nature - It's Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature!  (Maybe she didn't get nookie nookie last night)

Hi Sunny,
Whoosh, goes the wind,
Kaplunk, goes the anchor,
Woeeeeee, goes the storm,

Sunny, you never cease to amaze me with your talent. Keep writing, and I'll keep reading.

Sunny, I agree, what a great way to look at a storm. We have some big ones in NH too, (not in San Diego) LOL

didi...
I think you're right....Mother Nature is having PMS or something!! This storm was a nasty one...but I'm glad the electric stayed on long enought to write!!

Bill...
Time to go sit by the fire, and cancel all your outdoor plans in a storm like this!!  There's a lot can be done indoors!!

rosepetals...
I thank you!!! I did the first line that way, because that made it feel just like the storm.....Hit hard first, then talk later!!

Hi Sunny,

I loved it  ...I live in the middle of tornado alley and each April through May is not a whole lot of fun here...years ago I lived in Florida and can remember hurricane Camille...hmmm...is my age showing here?  Yes, Mother Nature can really wreak havoc at times...Take care, my friend.

Hi Michael...
I wouldn't want to live around tornadoes! We have had a few hurricanes here, but they don't get mentioned on National Weather, as no one can pronounce the names in Alaska!! Ha!! BTW, if remembering Camille ages us, then we're both in the same generation!!
          Thank you, my friend...

Mother nature has here way of being heard and you have penned part of that beautifully.  Wind in any type of storm is where the real damage is done most of the time and just because a storm isn't given a name doesn't mean there isn't going to one heck of a punch thrown.  Excellent write my friend.

Thank you for your words, and the meaning behind them is just what I needed to hear this morning. It helped me with the storms going on in my life right now.
