Against the backdrop of clear blue skies,
A peach sunset dips in the west,
Trees ablaze with yellowed leaves,
Getting ready for winter's long test.
Frost kissed cornstalks standing still,
As the raggedy scarecrow stands guard,
Pumpkins scattered at their base,
Carved faces look 'round the yard.
Bales of hay, stacked two high,
Make seats for the rabbits and squirrels,
Acorns dropping from the oak,
As another bronze leaf dries and curls.
Chimpmunks gathering walnuts,
From the base of another old tree,
Being attacked by a blue jay,
Who wants every morsel he sees.
The mice are running haphazard,
Frantically trying to build a nest,
Making a home in a hay bale,
Where they'll spend the winter at rest.
Disguised by red leaves on the maple,
A cardinal hides on a limb,
He's waiting there impatiently,
For his mate to bring dinner to him.
Dusk descends in minutes,
As another fall day loses light,
The grass is crisp, dusted by frost,
As the harvest moon winks good night.

Bonnie everytime you put your pen to paper they're always breathtaking. So full of imagery, you can't help but see the awesome pictures you paint!  You are truly blessed with pen and thought!

Ours are falling off some here and there, but we haven't started changing colors just yet.
