This Art of Womanhood

by

Michael Auguste

In beauty's rest, she lies with pillows 'bout her form

This perfect breath of loveliness in silken gown,
translucent

His eyes drawn to curves and sigh of breast, the supple
blush that's soft revealed

And there in sleep the hair about her flows with
hints of gold, as moon through window lights upon each
strand

This art of womanhood, this maiden fair that so
enslaves the hearts of men

And dare he not disturb this moment's peace, as he bends forth to place his lips, to taste her young and tender cheek

He hears each breath and longs to drown in her embrace, to drink her kiss, to breathe her hair, again to gaze upon her face

Hello Michael...
This is so beautiful, it has a ethereal feel to it, and I appreciate the true art that you put into it.
Your work only gets better, Michael!

Hi Sunny,

It's rare that I use free verse, but thought I'd give it a try...thank you for your kind words...

Michael~
Such softly-fallen phrases to reach the
object of such admiration.

Very tender, Michael.

Michael, such a sensual, savoury vignette...quite tenderly inspiring, to my way of thinking.  Just lovely, my friend.

Michael--lovely, and softly sensual, except for the breathing I would have thought perhaps you were gazing at a painting.

Michael - As Ronald Reagan would say, "Well, now, there you go again."  You're letting all these wonderful women know that they can conquer us even in their sleep.  You've also let on that we men often lay next to them in the late evening hours just watching them sleep as we fall deeper and deeper under their spell.  YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING WHEN YOU GIVE THEM ALL THIS POWER!!!!

As for your poem - absolutely terrific!  Right on the mark.

Marge,
It's always such a pleasure when you stop by and read something I've written.  Thank you, my friend.

Sudhir,
I'm happy to liked this one.  I'm not very good at free verse...I hope I was able to pull it off somehow without sounding too bumbling.  Thank you.

Kethry,
Wow...thank you for the "utterly stunning."  That was nice to hear.

Mona,
Your words are most appreciated...thank you.

James,
I'm glad to see you here and thank you for the nice remarks.

Liz,
Thank you for the "exquisite."  Coming from someone with your wonderful gift that truly means a lot to me.

Paula,
Thank you.  Your comments are always so nice.

Martie,
In a very real sense, the man in this poem is looking at a painting, because I tend to view women as works of art.  Thank you for the sweet words.

LngJhnAg,
Hey, I am deep under their spell already...aren't all men?  Thanks

Kathleen,
Thank you for the "double wow's."  That's so nice to hear.

I always love your view of things....this is
so very beautiful...to think that women look
this good while they sleep...why do we wake
up looking totally different  ...honestly
though..this was fantastic!
