Just having some fun.

       Balladeer –vs- LongJohn
Candidate Balladeer took a break
before the Presidential debates
Upon a Florida beach.
There at the edge of the water
he found a Genie’s bottle
Just within his reach.

He was granted three wishes
but they came with conditions,
LongJohn would receive the same- doubled.
He thought and he pondered,
he considered and wondered.
And said, I am no longer troubled.

The first one I want to place
a thousand billboards with my face
All across this great nation.
Right before his eyes but,
he was not surprised
That LongJohn received double satisfaction.

To the Genie inside
Balladeer did confide-
A million dollars
for my campaign.
Just as he was told,
LongJohn did behold
Two million dollars-
he gained.

Now, before you leave my sight,
make the third wish just right.
Then he took a deep breath.
He was eager and hurried
but he was not worried,
Please, scare me half to death.

Melton,
I liked this much better than the original of a mild heart attack.
Well done.

Jaysun C Yeah, I like to joke around.

Poutprinces Thanks.

Kethry Thanks. I know the original joke was about an x-husband. I first converted it to Bush vs Gore, but for this forum – just for the laughs.

When I stop laughing I may be able to come up with a proper response. Loved it.

Hi, Melllll...  I enjoyed this poem, and have only a couple things to say.  First - I haven't exhausted my supply of demeaning stories involving poets and scalawags.  Second - Go back and read "First" - heh heh - You've made it onto my list of rascals who MUST be dealt with harshly!!!!  As soon as I find a fitting tale, Melllll, you can be assured, your reputation as an honorable, worthy-of-being-respected person will be cast aside in favor of cheap laughs and ugly implications - lol.  Oh, one other thing - Thanks for including me in your poem - I enjoyed it, and I'm flattered you thought of me when thinking of a worthy adversary of that ne'er-do-well Balladeer.

Melton,(rofl)
You sly dog.  I went back in the archives to read your little gems.  They are all great, but I especially liked this one and the "It's a Miracle."  You got to poke fun at both of these guys without any retaliation from either.  You are truly a miracle worker.  But I would not take too many chances.  From reading your work though, you appear pretty witty.  There may just be a third join in on the war of words.
Good luck.
Again, your writings are excellent.< !signature-->
