She dreams in Wings

Some times there are wings
inside her mind
and she can see into hearts
and around corners where she has never been
and soar as if with eyes of hawk
across the miles of quilted land
where valleys fill and spread
and the mountain calls her
to him with a great uplifting that captures
and when the nestling cave opens
in dark and pungent familiarity,
they touch with hesitant wonder
their differences.

Then music lifts the filling moon
and it hangs its lantern over the land
where shadows dance
long and gracefully connected,
and in the glow of this pale illumination
she finds a place to lay down feelings.

Such a sigh clings to the canyon
that it fills the hallow and the meadow
before it echoes into a final note
then falls gracefully into the lap
of harmony.

Her magic, is it sleight of hand,
a mirror tricked into becoming,
quickening capture of the wanting
when all around is bated waiting
to see what will become?

No, ‘tis but a dream
and she, serene and filled
finds dawn upon her pillow
covering her with light.

Martie, this is so calm and soothing beautiful poem.
