Earth 3rd Rock from the sun!!

0 posted 2000-09-13 04:24 PM

The summer moon says
goodbye to us
the fall winds come
blowing up the dust
chills of winter
fill the air
i remember reluctantly
the faded tears
by your side
for all of those years
spaces of time
filled with so much doubt

i won't go back
to fighting again
i won't go back
to playing that game
i won't go back...
so don't ask me to..
i won't go back
baby this time we're through..

i've come to tell you
i've figured it out
got no excuses
or reasons to give
time heals
and we shall live
hanging on memories
never did any good
i just let go
kind of like
you knew i would
and i'm not saying
i have the right
to be
forgiven
and i'm not saying
i would
do it different
if i could
everyone has a pocketful
of broken dreams
promises lost in the ashes
of a burned down love scene

and i won't go back
to fighting again
i won't go back
to playing that game
i won't go back...
so please don't ask me to..
i won't go back
baby..this time we're through..

and we were playing our parts
both so well
all the worlds a stage
till we fell,
we fell
fell down so hard
hit the bottom
left a bump on our head
then it all
came in clear...
did you finally
look through my eyes?
see what i was trying
to say all along?
when you always
thought i was wrong
and i was right.....
right....
all...
along...

it felt so right sometimes...
but it was so very wrong...
we had no right to hold on...
we were fooling ourselves
thinking it would
be forever
forever died...
with goodbye...
it was no good...
you knew it would...
now i just let go...
and i wanted
you to know...
all i really needed
was to just be happy
in your arms
it wasn't meant to be...
now i will find
what i need
it will come to me
no need to look
i believe in destiny
the magnetism
of the universe
will send a soul to me
and to you
this i am sure
happy you will be
i really hope it finds you dear
because it isn't with me...

and i won't go back
to fighting again
i won't go back
to playing that game
i won't go back...
so please don't ask me to..
i won't go back
baby..this time we're through..

and we were playing our parts
both so well
all the worlds a stage
till we fell,
we fell
fell down so hard
hit the bottom
left a bump on our head
then it all
came in clear...
did you finally
look through my eyes?
see what i was trying
to say all along?
when you always
thought i was wrong
and i was right.....
right....
all...
along...

JulieAnn,

This is a masterpiece in expressional poetry... what a way to go about it...

Absolutely loved the read... very powerful... you really have a great ability to write, the flair and the touch to the art is unmistakable...

Keep writing... for my appetite has just increased to feed these hungry eyes...

and I like the repeating stanzas...

Regards,
sudhir

Wow JulieAnn! You must have had a melody in mind while you were writing this ... this is definately a song, and an excellent one at that! Loved this, really expressive, nicely done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I want to call this "Requiem to a ruined love"  I so appreciate the strength I hear in your poems, and you are so wonderfully expressive.

Loved the message in this poem...especially..
"every one has a pocketful
of broken dreams.
promises lost in the ashes
of a burned down love scene."
"all I really needed
was to just be happy in your arms."
"I believe in destiny
the magnetism of the universe
will send a soul to me."
Very creative writing...James
