This Morning

Ah, the air is fresher now
A morning song is sung
A nighttime storm has brought
Delicious sweetness to the lung

My head is bathed in fragrances
From rain that came and went
Aroma of the wet of earth
And tree limb’s woody scent

Droplets still hang heavy on the
Flower and drooping bough
The petal faces poised to spread
Sun’s rays across their brow

They’ve cleansed in wet, and soon will bask
In warmth of nature’s light
And I reach out to dissipate
The sorrow of the night

The scent of sweetness fills my soul
It enters through my skin
Allowing me to feel the warmth
Of pleasure deep within

Renewed once more, this weary heart
In early morning’s haze
Breaths in the life and nourishment
And hope of better days

Come out, dear sun, and put
A brilliant glaze on everything
Light prism droplets on the rose
And make my spirit sing

I do love dawn... Seeing the sun rise over the ocean (or mountains?.. ) is exhilarating... Nice one, Elizabeth..

After rain
the bare branches of the trees
wear crystal
the sun peers through each gem
and makes a rainbow

I love the earth after rain...you have brought it to me so clearly with your beautiful poem...we haven't had rain for such a long time.

Wonderfully picturesque Liz ... I could feel the freshness of the cleansing rain through your words ... bringing with it, a cleansing of the soul. Beautifully written!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Oh, Elizabeth, every day you are like the ice-cream truck singing round the block.  Such a treat!  Yum.  I love the way you write of nature, and I love your sweetness, and bright spirit.  Thank you.

Tyank you all so very much for your lovely comments. I'm laughing at being compared to an ice cream truck, but I got the message, Rosemary. I appreciated all of your wonderful remarks

I second the ice cream truck...your poetry comes in so many flavors, Liz, it's impossible to choose a favorite...just ring that little bell and I'll always come running
