Too slow,
Old fat kitties,
Who sun themselves all day,
Except when they notice they are
HUNGRY!

Hungry,
Sneaky fat cats,
Who jump on counter tops,
Looking for something they can eat
RIGHT NOW!

Right now,
While you read this,
Your old fat selfish cat,
Thanks you for being trusting and
STUPID!

Stupid,
Pampered cats!
Chastizing us because
We serve them their gourmet food way
TOO SLOW!

Thanks, Kethry - that was  fun.  Now, go chase your cat outta the kitchen - lol.

Debbie - Thanks for the kudos.  Have you noticed that the poems that seem to strike the right chords are the poems that tell us something we already know, but in a new way?  This poem is a perfect example.  Is there anybody who DOESN'T know that kitchen counters are cat magnets, or that cats are never patient when they know a free meal is on the way?  LOL

Maurine - There is definitely something about cats that is admirable.  I suspect 99% of the  world's population hopes it will come back as a cat.  As for me, I wanna be a DOG!  A real fast, tree-climbing dog!  A FAST dog living in a neighborhood of slow-moving cars with flashing hub-caps and houses with three fat, slow cats apiece!  WOW!  Now THAT would be living in the fast lane!  Oh yeah, I almost forgot, and lots of dog food, too!

Sudhir - Thanks for the response.  I'm wondering how long it will take somebody to write about having nothing BUT a cat to feed.  Oops, that's already been done.

Long John,
you move too fast, here I was expecting a beautiful poem, a sensitive cinquan round, a piece of verse that would soar and you write about cats! CATs! yet. Anyone would think you had a secret love for them. Btw did you read my dedication to you called "the problem with cats."

you call we kitties stupid and
you call us feline's slow,
well, longjohn, let me tell you something
that you might not know!
you call us sneaky, call us selfish,
call us fat, it's true!
oh, longjohn, mister kitty kicker,
i've got news for you!

oh, yes, i'll pounce up on your counter
and i'm ready for
just one sweet sneaky AG encounter,
...better watch your door!
i've got my back up, mr. AG,
and i'll be there real soon...
i'll sneak up on you like jet lag,
you'll wail unto the moon!
my claws are out, so best beware
of things you try to do
to fluffy kittycats like me!
your kicking days are through!

oh, yes, i'm slow, just slow enough
to jump from out the curtain...
and selfish, too, cause i want you
until your skin is hurtin'!
i'll rip those longjohns off of you
with one sweet swipe of paw!
and then, you'll see a hungry me!
oh, soon you'll be in awe!

i'll be a very true Fat Cat --
so synchronize your clocks...
i'm on my way, sweet longjohn AG...
beware pandora's box!

for the record, before the edit button is pushed again and LJA makes pandora's poem look likd kitty litter by changing all the words so that he appears to be a feline lover... here is his original:

Kitty, kitty, hiding under the bed
there's a man that you should dread,
his name is long john, he hates cats
he'll eat you for breakfast, just like that!

He likes to pull your tail for fun
and chuckles when he sees you run
but he doesn't see the Siamese
stalking him from the oak tree.

This kitty is smarter than most
he'll make Long John into toast!
He'll jump and claw and screek like mad
Old John will feel he's been had!

The scars may heal with time, they say
but Long John avoids cats to this very day!

hehehemeooooooooow!

Kethry

Actually, I think I did cats justice here - lol.  And, if you promise not to let anybody else know, I really do like cats.  I've had some good ones in the past.  I thought I had responded to your excellent poem, but lemme go back and see.  OK?  hugs

Hawk - I keep waiting for lil Pandora to pounce, but she's a shy lil kitty.  Have you noticed that she purrs a lot more when she gets stroked?  And she always lands on her feet, too!

Pandora (the Angora?) - I love your poetic response.  I've read so much of your poetry, and I am very flattered that you write so light-heartedly for me.  Sincerely, that means a great deal to me.  As for my long johns...

Mark - You've nailed me down perfectly - I really do love the attention I get from women.  I guess its because I think God wasn't quite satisfied with how beautiful He made this world, and made Woman to compensate for all the beauty He failed to endow when He made everything else.  In awe of women?  How could a man not be?

Corinne - You would scare me?  You'd jump me and sink in your claws?  *gulp*  When will this happen?  *Christmas-morning eyes*  A truly neat poem from you.  Thank you very much for being so creative.

Michael - lol@dog.  But... I wanna be a FAST dog.  And, as for being a dog... look who's talking!  Incidently, the next time we meet, let's not do any of that sniffing stuff.  OK?

Oh yeah, cats.....ummmm, well, I'll gladly feed my faithful dogs anyday....all the cat ever did was dig his claws into my leg and draw blood .... every morning!  He's gone to kitty heaven, but I know he's come back to haunt me, he has somehow gotten inside one of my dogs, who now lies on the back of the couch, cleans himself like a cat and acts very arrogant..... looks to me like he's on his way out.  This is great LngJhn.
