You've heard about our Long John and his problem with felines
well did you know that Lorelei tried to cure him for a time
whenever she was busy, she'd raise his affinity, by
feeding him tins of cat food, disguised as tuna bake and tuna pie
for weeks and weeks this went on, but she knew she'd gone to far
when poor old Long John Silver, pawed the goldfish from its jar
and then he, with a grin Cheshire, ate the goldfish whole
before the fainting Lorelei, could return it to the bowl
Lorelei, so anxious now, thought she'd better stop
before he started catting around, and in with 'deer did hop
but Long John  hurt himself before, she could begin the plan
to take away this kitty and return to her, her man

While he was having x-rays the doctor said to Lorelei
How did he get this injury, an accident or to kill him did you try?
If you're asking did I hurt him! No! This questioning must cease
Long John caused this injury falling off the mantlepiece.

We may have a problem here, if LJA is into eating fishies now...and Lorelei is a reincarnated mermaid like me.....and she lives with LJA, all by her sweet lil self...will LJA get a crazy idea in the middle of the night and eat her up like the poor baby goldfish?

Thanks for the warning X Angel, but I think the thing about X Mermaids sounds a bit fishy to me.

Very cute! Poor long john!  I had a cat that would jump from our balcony (we lived on the second floor) and hang on the side window screen, and meow until we let him in. Then his little sister tried it, and she fell and broke her leg. Cats are soooo strange! But they're cuddly all the same.

yanno, Kethry - this poem may explain a lot of things for me, but I mustn't go into details in here - lol.  I do have an affinity for lil Lorelei, but I can't make up my mind about whether its because she is slinky like a cat, or because she's my siren, Lorelei.  Decisions, decisions.

Incidently, I love your poem.

Thanks so much, Long John, for the comment. Sometimes I am able to show some class in my work, but it's usually undergraduate class with the associated humor attached.
And I your attraction  to Lorelei may be her long flowing... nevermind.

The little goldfish he did eat
And from the mantle Lja did fall
If he had been a cat and landed on his feet
Then he would now be enjoying his catnip ball

Wonderful hilarious write.

Actually, with regard to my attraction to Lorelei, it's her incredible sensuality.  I never thought I would ever grow to love the sound of a cat wailing in the night, but it is music to my ears.    Is there anything more sexy than an agressive female?  I doubt it.
