I know what the moon speaks of
on nights like last,
not perfect at all, so shadowed
and quartered and distilled by the glow
of color from the falling sun.

It detailed a cloud
and enchanted the sidewalk
where I walked darkly
around the block and down the alley,
the middle of the street my path
and lights closing down to sleep
the city seemed to all be breathing
long pale breaths
slumbering in drained verve.

I heard a sigh from a driveway
an echo of my own
it stumbled and dropped at my feet
and I stopped,
I could hear my own breath
and in the  silence I had made
with my presence
no crickets hummed.

Then a coyote called from far away
igniting another
as the tree lined street focused
the scent of jasmined air
and Vavaldi whispered summer
from an open window.

I know what the moon speaks

it speaks of coupling this solitude
of yearning that is almost palpable
it speaks of time ticking out
and it says leave room for a dance
in candle lit room
and the wax melting into morning

You have penned yet again a magnificent piece, you speak of the moon beautifully Martie   Enjoyed it muchly and especially this .......

I heard a sigh from a driveway
an echo of my own
it stumbled and dropped at my feet
and I stopped,
I could hear my own breath
and in the  silence I had made
with my presence
no crickets hummed.

Splendid!

Martie -

"it speaks of time ticking out
and it says leave room for a dance
in candle lit room
and the wax melting into morning"

As I seem to be doing routinely - I've singled out favorite lines - and while the total poem is yet another masterpiece I will add to my treasured collection - these lines will speak to me in my dreams

is love.

Martie, you just do this incredible thing, every time...I admire, so much, your penchant for creating scenes such as this so beautifully.

Wax melting into morning...that creates such a wondrous image in my mind Martie. Your works are always a feast of graceful images and thought, and this is no exception.

Wonderful writing Martie...  you have such an amazing talent to create mood and express yourself.  The moon did indeed speak; because you brought its words to light.

Aaahh, so magnificently descriptive Martie! If I were to choose a favorite line, I fear I'd copy the whole poem. You've captured sights, sounds and a wonderful mystical feeling within this piece ... very lovely!

Best wishes,
/Kit
