meet me in Paris was her passioned plea
meet me near the Eiffel Tower darling
you know the place, you know the time
he planned to be there, prompt at 10
but traffic and trains took their bite
of his precious window of opportunity
all the while she stood, heart stilled
waiting
in agonising silence
for his coming

10:29
and still he wasn't there
but she'd wait until eternity
to bask in his love once more

11:15
her mind raced to accidents
other loves, fate, karma
and still she knew without a doubt
he'd come

12:45
the rain started to fall
but no she wouldn't cry
he would be there, he would

1:01
beneath the lights of the Eiffel Tower
he found her asleep on a bench
a bunch of Columbines in her hands
bedraggled and love-worn

1:02
he kissed her softly awake
and in that moment sealed his eternal fate

"Our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."

Ah, I hate waiting for the one you want the most...but when he shows finally, it's well worth the wait.  Very sweet X Angel, I enjoyed it!

Heather - aha!  The ol' romantic side is kicking in and taking over - well... it's about time, Lady!  This poem is very special.  I sincerely hope that you are able to visit Paris with somebody very very special, and permanent.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to have that AND the picture in your living room?

Thanks so much everyone for your replies
I think it's wishful thinking of my heart.
I did so love writing this poem.
And I dunno if anyone noticed, but my poems rarely ever have a happy ending, but this one did, so weird....
