When Balladeer was younger
just a tot of one or two
he liked to have a tipple
of his father's brew

Balladeer would watch and wait
his patience, all on eggs
for when the glass was nearly gone
he'd drink up all the dregs

and smack his lips in pleasure
at the whiskey or the beer
he went this way, for quite some time
party sounds would draw him near

One day, to bed so early
Balladeer did go
and he could hears the sounds
of a party held below

In anticipation grand
dreamed of the beer that he could taste
very early, the next morning
through the hall he raced

He saw the empty glasses
unwashed and sitting there
but they held a drink not known,
something beyond compare

A drink of crystal purity
so 'Deer, he drank it down
it had very little taste, but
afterwards he'd frown

His ma and pa came running
gave Balladeer a shout
"What do you think you're doing
you spit that water out."

"That drink could have been poison
you know, you could have died."
"it was! it tasted horrible!"
small Balladeer decried.

This is cute, and there is a wonderful story about W.C. Fields and what he had to say about water, but unfortunately that acecdote is rated "R"---thanks for the smiles tho...

Kethry - Another TRUE story about that rascally Balladeer.  It's about time the women of the Forums started waking up.  I'm proud of you taking a stand against this villain!  Incidently, you related this tale excellently.  The poem flowed smoothly and kept me in the dark until the very end.

OK, Lord, I get the message. I have tried it the right way, sitting here quietly and politely as my head continues to get whomped upon, maintaining a cheerful countenance in the spirit of friendship and camraderie....it ain't working! Therefore, even though it is against my gentle nature, scores are about to be evened. Obviously we have new people who are not aware of Toerag and Blow Up Sue or Marilyn being relegated to Miss Pearly Gates of 1999. hehe...this could be fun....

LongJohn...you were in the dark? Gee, there's a news flash that could stop life as we know it....have you ever been anywhere else????
