Earth 3rd Rock from the sun!!

0 posted 2000-09-06 05:34 AM

isn't entirely about me...(i don't even like beer)...and it IS just about a few motnhs late at that....but was feeling a little restless i guess..

i've been sitting here
on my couch
a little restless
and out of sorts
mind in the clouds
and i ask God
to please tell me why...

and all my dreams
now live through you
and in the darkness
i swallow another
bitter pill
wash it down
with my last beer
'cause the pains
too much to bear
once the hurt set in
i knew i got
what i deserved

so don't tell me
what i could have had
the cards were dealt
i played my hand
came up with just
a pair that time
so i folded
cut my losses
walked away
somehow i know i
will never forget
that day

and if you
need convincing
i left
the photographs behind
the little one is six
the big one almost nine
the boys are a
constant reminder
of the life
i left behind...

so please don't bother
telling me
that it could be easy
and that i had no reason
'cause my heart was
lonely baby
and though you were there
next to me
my soul was screaming
to be free....

Julie :)

JulieAnn~
I think this is a good piece.
Reflectively honest and sadly rendered.

'so don't tell me
what i could have had
the cards were dealt
i played my hand
came up with just
a pair that time
so i folded
cut my losses
walked away'

So glad to know that this is not going on now with you.  Very sad and painful but the read was wonderfully done.
