The loneliness, quite like a fog...
Envelopes, oft, my mind.
The wind does croon a dreary dirge-
Of things I’ve left behind.

The lonely nights, the dreary hours;
Ah, such a weight to bear.
And all because the one I love-
And need, is never there.

But, lo! she waits to hear my voice...
And for those moments brief;
The wire connects our lonely hearts.
And brings us both relief.

Her voice recalls our days of youth-
When I was wild and free.
And only she could catch and tame,
A lone wolf such as me.

And still her love can hold me tight...
Bewitched by her sweet smiles...
And so she waits, and I return...
Unchanged by all the miles.

A poignant glimpse into such a sweet love, dear Troubadour. Your words here are homespun, warm, and make me wish for someone to miss.

This is so touching, John, and of course very well written.
