My Light Uncloaked

by

Michael Auguste

There is such stillness in the night
While in this quiet my thoughts are clear
Of the things in life that matter
And of the people I hold dear

My poetry is mediocre
So to publish, mere fantasy
It's simply something that I do
To help share what so thrives in me

What lives in me I often cloak
The radiance I dare not show
I cannot let the shine escape
I cannot even let it glow

With some I have shared of this light
And in so doing, saw their own
Our friendship brighter since we shared
Now so much closer we have grown

This light dwells deep within us all
We often hide the majesty
For fear to hurt or being hurt
So often hard the balance be

We clothe ourselves in layers thick
We fear to trust, so fail to shine
And keep within us all we are
I've often done the same with mine

But recently I chose to trust
Though still afraid, uncloaked my light
And let my heart be viewed in depth
I only hope that I was right

Yes, Michael, it was right to let your light show. It shines out like a beacon on a dark night to some of us who need to read your words!!!

Michael...you shine like he brightest lighthouse on this foggy shore...please please never hide your light...I look to it each and every day to keep me from crashing on that rocky beach... you touch people you dont even know with your words, myself being one of them.

man...You just have such a good attitude.
and I know what you say is true, and I love your writing, but it is sure hard to live...but your poetry makes it easier.

Mediocre?  I think not.

Michael,
This is excellent poetry... Mediocre, I would not even think of that word in the vicinity of such a writer...

Sunny and Paula,

Your comments are probably the most touching I've ever received.  That my simple words can touch you both in such a profound way fills my heart to overflowing.  I am greatly appreciative and humbled by your sincere kindness.  Thank you both.

My best to you,

Michael

Beautiful Michael! Such wise and genuine sentiments flowed through these lines. Mediocre is not in this vocabulary for works like this I read ... excellent first comes to mind. Really lovely, and your sincerity shines through brilliantly.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Michael, I would never say your poetry was mediocre, you are too humble. I'm am so glad you decided to trust us and show your light. As for publishing, take your own advice and go for what you believe in.

Michael~
Not gonna shoot you any bull ...
if I didn't think it was any good ...
I wouldn't take the time to read it ...
much less reply !

You need just one-half the belief
in yourself as others have in you.

But recently I chose to trust
Though still afraid, uncloaked my light
And let my heart be viewed in depth
I only hope that I was right

Trust this - you were right !
Let that light continue to shine !

Michael, I know I said I couldn't, but I can. This is so artfully, beautifully expressed, dear friend. You know how I feel.
