I'm afraid of the dark now
(big girls aren't supposed to cry either)
I can't pretend everything is fine
I can't acknowledge all you say
with a smile and a laugh
no, you can let it all go
like time means nothing to you
but watching our family go up in smoke
is tearing me apart
the hurt has settled in my bones
to ache there, raw and sure
like a winter chill covers the earth
after an early fall

I drove twenty miles in the pouring rain
and didn't remember the drive later
I drank a bottle of wine and felt nothing
I ate something for lunch
but didn't taste it
are all divorces this way?
I tried to be happy about losing you today
I remembered your faults
I picked you apart
yet, still I hurt
still I longed for you to look at me again
it aches my heart to know you hate me now
you wanted to part just friends
but it didn't work that way
not with thirteen years together
we had too much history to just fade away
now our separation teeters on a precipice
of hatred
and I am powerless to do anything but watch it fall

XAngel~
Sometimes, somethings hurts so much that
the only thing a friend can offer is compassion ...
please know that you have that in many friends here.

I feel your pain and know that you will get past it in time.
Hopefully with the good memories intact.
Hugs, hon.
Love you~

Heather~

Marge is right...all we can offer you is compassion (and our shoulders, here's my shoulder if you need one). Take care, and we are all right here, you know where to find us. My prayers will be with you and your family. God bless.

You're more than a poem on a thread, you are special and when you hurt we hurt. God bless you.
